Lucas Haines

President

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Lucas was born in Oregon and moved to Washington in the mid-'90s. Coming of age in the Issaquah Valley meant one quintessential PNW experience after another, ultimately influencing a discovery that beer could be so much more than the bland American pilsners of recent past. Lucas sees beer for its rich history or as a long since handed down family recipe — something equal parts science, heritage, and creative freedom. From 9 to 5, he currently works as a Product Manager focused on building AI products. After hours he can be found spending time with his family, tinkering with homebrew recipes, or feverishly working to open Volition Brewing.

Matthew Sherman

Head Brewer

If Matthew Sherman were to describe himself to a stranger, he would likely say something like; 'I live in the northwest not because I was born here (which I was) but because I choose to make my memories here. I was raised by amazing parents who influenced me to make my own way. I fell in love with science, art, food, an amazing woman and beer (in that order) and decided I wanted to create delicious beverages to share with those nearest to me. I love making beer. I love sharing it with others while life happens. If you want something in life, make it happen. You need only possess the volition to do so.'

Jamie Haines

Marketing & Event Coordinator

Jamie, a lifelong resident of the stunning Pacific Northwest, was born and raised in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Her career began in the sporting goods industry, where she spent ten years in various marketing and merchandising roles for athletic wear, ski apparel, and outdoor gear. During this time, Jamie held multiple management positions and played a key role in designing and overseeing large-scale floor designs and merchandise placement across the company.

After gaining invaluable experience in the sporting goods industry, Jamie transitioned into estate management, where she put her organizational skills to work by logging and organizing an extensive collection of art and artifacts. Following this, Jamie returned to school to pursue a career in healthcare, spending several years working in medical imaging at a local hospital. In this role, Jamie's exceptional customer service and organizational skills were crucial in managing a busy CT department and handling critical emergency cases and in-house patients.

Throughout her diverse career, Jamie has maintained a passion for finely crafted beer, and she is excited to continue her marketing work and collaborate with others in creating a thriving craft beer community at Volition. In her free time, Jamie loves to explore the great outdoors with her husband, Lucas, their two children, and their loyal dog, Steve.
